Oyster Opera have sung all over the UK - Weston Park in Staffordshire, Castle Coombe, Chiswick House, Penshurst Place in Kent, Christchurch in Oxford, the Swedish Church in Marylebone, London; ... in Folkstone, Edinburgh, Cardiff, West West Wales, Suffolk, Hereford . we've even sung at weddings in Chelsea Football Club, HMS Victory in Portsmouth and in the Barbican Centre Conservatory.

Often a Wedding Ceremony Venue doesn't have much facility for music (piano or organ) - so we can play our backing tracks on their sound system or even bring our own portable battery-operated sound system. Or we can organize a harpist, or a string trio or a quartet to play your favourite pieces and even to accompany the congregation perhaps for hymns. This also works well in a church if there is no organ, or you do not wish to use it.

Popular requests for songs are Ave Maria by either Schubert or Gounod, O mio babbino caro (Dearest Daddy, please let me marry the man I love...) by Puccini, and duets - Lakme Flower Duet by Delibes (heard in British Airways ads); Barcarolle (from the Tales of Hoffmann) and Sull'aria (to the breezes - made famous in the film Sureshank Redemption).
We are also happy to learn requests - for example, we have done Con te partiro (a la Sarah Brightman and Andrea Boccelli); and Nella fantasia to harp accompaniment (made famous by the boy group Il Divo)

CIVIL CEREMONIES AND RECEPTIONS
Opera is a particularly wonderful idea in civil ceremonies, as you are not allowed to have music with a religious content.
You could have a string quartet playing a selection of favourites for the ten minutes before you arrive at the venue, and then your special Entrance piece. During the Signing of the Register another piece, together with a soprano/tenor solo song, and then another song as a feature (like a poem, or reading). Finally the String Quartet to play the chosen Exit music. (They could also accompany the hymns if needed).
And it doesn't need to stop there - the music can follow you to your Reception - to entertain in a slightly more lively fashion! The Strings can do a 25 minute show - not just sitting staring at their music stands, but on their feet, stamping and dancing, engaging the audience in clapping and dancing too.
The Singer/s can entertain your guests whilst you are having your photos taken, or between courses of the dinner or breakfast, and the Strings can play again, slightly more reserved as elegant background music.
